Meet the Maker

Hello, my name is Mia. I am the founder and owner of Pottery to the People!

I am originally from Wisconsin, USA, and I began my pottery journey in 2010 when I took a ceramics class at UW Madison as part of my BFA.

After graduating, I joined a community ceramics studio called Midwest Clay Project. This is where most of my learning happened, and ignited my passion for an anti-elitist approach to the craft.

When I moved to Berlin in 2014, I decided to commit myself to ceramics as much as possible. Eventually I began teaching in various studios and that inspired my second passion: teaching.

In 2019 I founded my own community ceramics studio called Pottery to the People. Berlin was missing a space where people can not only learn to make pottery, but practice in an affordable and nourishing environment. Now the ceramics community in Berlin is thriving, and I am proud to say we were one of the first.

In 2022 I fulfilled a longtime dream and moved to the countryside. Now I live in a small village in Bavaria with my partner and my dog, Peanut. Pottery to the People lives on online, where I promote affordable access to learning pottery across the globe.
