Two skills, one class ✌︎
First challenge: stain the clay! This technique can be used on its own to make beautiful monochromatic pottery. However, if you’re looking for something more colorful, I will show you how you can use that clay to make marbled pottery. Both skills are suitable for both handbuilding AND throwing on the wheel.
Meet your Teacher
Hi, my name is Mia Mueller. I am a ceramic artist and a teacher living in Germany. I founded Pottery to the People as a community studio in Berlin in 2019, teaching over a thousand students and mentoring over 100 members. Since COVID, I have expanded into the digital world!
Altering clay bodies is a major part of my own ceramic work. I find it brings an amazing depth to pottery, that surface treatments like glaze simply cannot achieve. That’s why I’m so exciting to bring you this class!
This class is for you if:
you’re interested in creating colorful clay bodies
you want to achieve a look that goes beyond the surface
you work with clay already, either handbuilding or throwing
you’ve heard about stains, but aren’t sure how to apply them
you enjoy experimenting and creating pottery that is completely unique to you.
This class is NOT for you if:
you’ve never worked with clay before. I recommend a handbuilding or wheel-throwing class first.
you don’t have access to pottery stains or oxides. These are the materials you will use to stain your clay.
